Camel est le nouveau noir!

CAMEL IS THE NEW BLACK.

Wave good by to beige its all about the new shade. Camel. As Far as wintery hues go it doesn't really stray more than a stones throw away from the staple shade of black. Last year stretched to Green, and there is always the inevitable aubergine/burgundy tones. So i LOVE camel. I am welcoming it with open arms.





You can try the boxy tailoring masculine look as seen in Nicole Fahri. Which is a popular look amongst fashionista's such as Olivia Palermo. The new 'Coat draped on shoulders/cape' trend a la Giambattista, and not to forget the ultimate winter necessity which is shearling! That can be seen on a gorgeous woolen camel trench from Erdem.

Camel works in knitwear too as demonstrated by Michael Kors, but it is refreshing to know you can add some pastel colours like the gods of Prada and Rochas, to lighten up your winter days!

Sky Ferreira

Sky Ferreira caught my eye in her video for single 'one' which looks like an Elle editorial come to life...non suprisingly because it is shot by Rankin. Which is impressive in itself!



It prompted me to do some research on this girl, who is 18 years old from the West Coast of America, living in NYC. She has the most enviable hair and pout, with a look of grunge about her. Sky has already appeared on Elle.com, Jalouse Magazine, dazed and confused, Purple magazine and Nylon magazine. When asked about her personal style she stated “I love the ’70s; I like the whole glam-rock style. David Bowie is my absolute favorite style-wise with all of the suits.” and “I own a lot of vintage—I’m trying to mix it more so I don’t dress as much like Courtney Love as I do now.”

Christian Dior Couture...

A magical collection bought to you by the inspirational garden that is John Galliano's head! The beautiful Dior Autumn/Winter couture show was held in Paris this week, as if mother nature herself had christened the catwalk - models walked the runway in pansy prints and petal textures as if grown on the body.

Like the personified pansies in Alice in Wonderland come to life, Galliano mixed delicious colour combinations of orange and black, violet and pink, indigo and lime, finished with cellophane head pieces like topsy-turvy bouquets of flowers.

Textures of chiffons, tulles and mohair layered fabric - transformed the female body into blooms shaped like tulips, pansys and blossom. Galliano himself said he did his research by watching tulips for hours on end, to study the way the light hits the flower.





Hair and make-up complimented all things floral, with brightly coloured make-up and beehive'd barnets topped off with cellophane head pieces.


Over all a completely elegant couture collection which pleases with texturized day dresses and humongous tulle gowns. Prints and silhouettes inspired from Galliano's observation of tulips and all things nature. With the colours and intense beauty, the whole collection is as if it has come straight out of the garden....from a parallel universe of paradise.

GFW Best Womenswear

The award for best Womenswear collection goes to Northbrook student Rhea Fields. Rhea was inspired by silhouettes from men's tailoring and mixed it with feminine fabrics for an altogether androgynous look.

With subtle shades of peach and beige, and added effect from sequins and polka dots, the collection shows an innovative approach to tailoring. A slick sophisticated look from Fields who said she had 'never expected to get in, let alone to win anything' .

GFW Gold Award Winner

Rebecca Thomson of Manchester Metropolitan University won the GFW Gold Award for best student at last nights Gala show. The 22 year old explored a variety of fabrics, tailoring and proportions to create a light and effortlessly chic graduate collection.

The crisp white voluminous shirts and trouser combinations adorned with bows and ruffles a plenty caught the eye of Alberta Feretti, the designer who presented Thomson with her £20,000 award, was said to pe blown over by Rebecca's 'unusual and interesting combination of fabric' and for the 'contemporary' attitude to her collection.

Alejandro.

A rather compelling 8 minutes and 43 seconds. You have to watch it to see. It's Icy, Fiery and of course dramatic from start to finish in that individual Gaga fashion.

I can't help but notice Lady G is drawing on her inspirations by adopting a Madonna-esque bob and even adapting the infamous cone bra into what can only be described as...Machine gun bra?! Well all that combined with dance routines, naked men and writhing makes for a must watch music video.
